George Lincoln collected and recorded genealogical information on the Lincoln family. Samuel Lincoln left Hingham, England in 1637 when he was 18 years old and settled in Salem, Mass. for a time before he moved to Hingham, Mass. and bought land. He and his wife, Martha, had eleven children, one of whom was Mordecai, born in 1657 and the great-great-great grandfather of Abraham Lincoln.
